Hurricane Rx is a consulting firm in the Tampa Bay area specializing in hurricane preparedness for healthcare facilities, colleges/universities, and businesses. We offer hurricane preparedness and emergency management training, exercise development, and business continuity planning services.
During this time, I was responsible for developing and planning all aspects of one of the largest annual hospital mass casualty exercises in the United States, and sat on the Executive Committee for the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS), Tampa Bay Hurricanes and Healthcare Conference, and Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo. I also served as the interim Director of Emergency Management for Hillsborough County from 2010 to 2011.
It was during my time in Hillsborough County that I realized the growing need for professional emergency planning, training, and exercise design services in the healthcare industry, academia, and other organizations, and I decided to start Hurricane Rx in 2011 to fill that void.
I hold a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Golden Gate University as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Management and International Business from Eckerd College. I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Disaster Management from the University of South Florida, as well as certifications as a Florida Professional Emergency Manager (FPEM), Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP), and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
I am also an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida, where I have designed and delivered curriculum in the university's undergraduate minor in emergency management and facilitated coalition-building workshops for local governments for the university's Center for Leadership in Public Health Practice.
My education and experience give me a unique perspective on emergency preparedness and its intersection with your most important asset - your people.
